Lydia Press was an Earth Science graduate from Oxford who died in a tragic mountaineering accident aged 24 in May 2008. Lydia was an energetic, gregarious and enthusiastic person; her life touched the lives of many others and often seems to have inspired them.
The objective of The Fund is to try in some way to carry this inspiration forward and hopefully provide opportunites that will foster similar qualities in other young people.
Initially, The Fund intends to support various musical projects and to provide bursaries to facilitate field research that will have a humanitarian, sociological or environmental benefit.
The Fund is now open to apply for Fieldwork Bursaries for 2012. The closing date for the first round of applicants will be January 23rd 2012.
For more information on how to apply for this bursary, please go to the Fieldwork Bursaries section of this website.
Last year The Fund granted four Fieldwork Bursaries; in 2010 it granted five and in 2009 it granted seven.
If you would like to see what former applicants achieved with their bursaries, please go to the Awards section of this website.
